SAP UX Internship
May - December 2019
For my Cooperate Education during my third year of college, I spent six and a half months at SAP Dublin as a UX Design intern in the UX Engineering team. During my time at SAP, I worked with a team in Palo Alto in California on a UX Design Tool Suite and reported weekly to a team in Paris/Waldorf.
I worked on numerous projects with many different types of people which included many masters of design, development and business in my time in the company. The main projects I was involved in included designing various applications for the UX Design Tool Suite while also working on projects such as producing videos and making gifs and logos. I was introduced to many different industry standard tools to complete these projects such as Sketch, Abstract and Principle.
UX Engineering Dublin Logo Design
One of the first tasks that I had to complete in my placement was designing a logo for my team. This logo is now used to represent our team on applications such as Slack and Outlook. I created the designs on the application Sketch. We created over twenty designs and then narrowed the designs to our best ten designs . The team then decided their favourite two icons. We went back and improved them further, before deciding on which represented the team.

Creating Gifs
During my time at SAP, I learnt the importance of the communication between every role on the team, especially when it comes to the designer to developer handoffs. To help with the explanation of my designs, I learnt how to create gifs on Principle to illustrate my designs functions when working on the tool suite.

SAP Sports and Social Posters
A task that I was given outside the UX Engineering team involved working with SAP Sports and Socials team to create posters for events that were held throughout my time there. The first was for a pub quiz held in September, where I had to make an email header invite. The second event I had to create posters for was the Murder Mystery that took place in October.
After speaking with the team, I ideated by looking at other posters and also by coming up with my own designs. We reported back to the team for approval of the rough draft we created before we created our final designs. I found this project enjoyable and also we had a great amount of freedom on how the poster is presented and expressed.
